LottieFiles downloader

Today I needed a cool animation for a small website project, and, as usual, I headed over to LottieFiles to grab one. It’s not something I do often, maybe once every few months. But to my surprise, I was hit with a message I hadn’t seen before: “Upgrade to upload more files.

Now, I wasn’t trying to upload anything—I just wanted to download an animation. Then it dawned on me that this was probably related to adding the animation to my account, which they now track in order to let me export it. Fine. I figured I’d just go into my dashboard, delete some old files to free up space and call it a day.

Nope! Same error popped up. It turns out that even deleting files doesn’t help because according to Lottie’s help article, “as a free user, you have a maximum upload quota of 10 files. This count tracks the total number of uploads rather than the current number of active files.” In other words, once you’ve uploaded 10 files, you’re stuck unless you upgrade.

In order for me to get my beautiful FREE animation I’d need to fork out $19.99 for a subscription—kind of over the top when I download a file maybe every 3-4 months.

So, I decided to create a simple tool that helps bypass this hurdle. If you ever find yourself in the same situation, feel free to check out my Lottie Downloader Tool. It’s straightforward and does the job.

Just paste the URL of the animation you want to download and it will give you the .lottie file that you can plug in into LottiePlayer.

If you encounter any issues, or if something isn’t working as expected, you can reach out at hey at mihaiblaga dot dev.

Enjoy the downloads, and hopefully, this saves you some time and money!
